About the race
Kalmar Swimrun is a unique race in a truly unique environment. Kalmar Swimrun will be carried out in the central part of the beautiful Kalmar to give the audience the chance to follow the race closely and create a special atmosphere for the athletes. Start takes place in Kalmarsundsparken and the finish takes place at Larmtorget. Teams of two race together from island to island. Wearing a wetsuit, light shoes and a bathing cap you will face a course with alternating swim- and run stages. Like an amphibious vehicle, you will be just as well equipped for water as for dry land. The teams swim between the islands and run on them.
The course
The course is relatively fast and easily in an unforgettable setting. The course is a total distance of swimming and running of approximately 23K. Apart from roots and other typical forest elements the run is not to be regarded as particularly technical or difficult. The course will be well marked and signposted. The swim segments will be clearly marked at the entry and finish. For longer swims flags and pennants will even further enhance course. Participants need a good technique to be quick in and out of the water as there are many in and outs.
There are safety boats, medical staff and functionaries along the course to try to guarantee everyone’s safety. Along the course there will be energy zones with fluid and energy replenishment and health care resources.
Prices
Anyone who implements the race will receive a unique memory which is unique for each year, as well as get a goodie bag from our partners. A number of prizes will be raffled. The winners in each class will receive prices.
Date and time
Kalmar Swimrun will take place on Saturday July 13th 2024. The race starts at 10 am.
